In the book, patterns 4 and 5 are 2 versions of the same hexagonal Irish crochet design.
Both use the same symbol diagram with some supporting written instructions;

Version 4 is a color doily using
3 g, (33 yds,) of pink size 30 thread for the clover motifs and
12 g, (130 yds,) of a blue and green variegated thread for the rest of the doily.

Version 5 is all white using 15 g, (162 yds,) of size 30 thread.
