In Flight is a versatile shawl designed to highlight the unique color variations of hand dyed yarns. Perfect for any season – throw In Flight over your shoulders for added warmth on warm spring days, cool fall days and summer air-conditioned spaces or around your neck to keep cozy on cold winter days.

In flight uses just one skein of Malabrigo sock or Malabrigo lace yarn. The pattern is easily adjustable to make the shawl smaller or larger. The simple design uses basic lace and shawl techniques, making it friendly for beginners and a quick knit for more experienced knitters.

Yarn
1 skein of Malabrigo Sock (440 yards/100grams) or 1 skein of Malabrigo Lace yarn (470 yards/50 grams)

Needles
Size 8 circulars, at least 24” for sock weight
Size 6 circulars, at least 24” for lace weight

Notions
8 stitch markers
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Gauge
No gauge swatching required – whoohoo!

Sizes
Size can be adjusted by increasing/decreasing needle size. Pattern repeats across 4 rows, so it is easy to change the size of the shawl by adding/subtracting more rows. Size can also be adjusted by changing needle size. The pattern is written to use an entire skein of yarn, so if you choose to add more rows, additional yarn will be required.

Instructions are charted and written.

The fingering weight sample (purple/blue) measures approximately 23 inches down the middle of the back and approximately 37 inches across the shoulders after blocking.
