The In Love Bucket Bag is a part of my In Love Design line. The In Love Cowl is also available in my Raverly Store, and I have many more items planned for future projects!
The In Love Bucket Bag features a hard, stabilizing bottom, to help maintain shape. The heart band encircles the entire circumference of the bag, and the I-cord strap is adjustable, from a short double strap, to a long, cross-body strap. It’s a nice size that can easily fit a couple of regular sized skeins of yarn.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate/Advanced

MATERIALS
- Worsted weight Yarn
o I used 80g of Loops and Threads, Impeccable in Rich Orchid for the heart band section
o I used 40g of Loops and Threads, Impeccable in Amethyst for the bottom of the bag, and the i-cord strap
o For the top area I used 21g Caron, Simply Soft in Plum Wine

  • 6mm hook
  • 5mm hook
  • 3.25mm hook for the heart dangles
  • Darning needle &/or a long needle (I like to use a doll making needle) to thread through your puff heart dangles
  • Stitch marker
  • Row counter (the top portion can be a little difficult to count the rows if you are not familiar with the stitch pattern)
  • Plastic lid to recycle into the bottom support for your bag, an ice cream pail lid works well for this. I used a spare lid I had from an old Dollar Store container
  • Fiber fill for stuffing the puff heart dangles
  • Optional: material for lining your bag (Instructions for this, are NOT included in this pattern)

GAUGE & SIZING
Gauge is only important if you want the bag to turn out the exact same size as my original. Using same yarn and hooks as the pattern calls for, the finished product measures:

  • 11” from the top edge to bottom edge
  • Just shy of 8 ½” from outer edge to outer edge across the bottom
  • Approx. 24” around the outer circumference (measured at about the middle of the bag)
  • Approx 20 ¾” around the opening

The yarns, though both technically a 4 weight (according to the manufacturers) work up quite differently. It is recommended that you use a heavier/regular 4 weight for the bottom, heart adorned area. The top area of the bag works out much nicer with a thinner/soft 4 weight yarn. The softer yarn lends itself better to the folding wanted with the drawstring close, whereas the thicker yarn is a little more stable, holding the shapes of the hearts.

  • 7 clusters over 4” (this is the sc, dc clusters that form the top area)
  • 13 sc over 4” (in the heart area)
  • Each heart pattern repeat should measure about 3.5” across
