The In the Navy Shawl is a striped, asymmetrical, triangular design. It is worked sideways on the bias, beginning with a rib and lace border on one side, and then fluctuating between light and dark wide stripes punctuated with narrow contrasting color stripes. The bias and shape are achieved with short rows, using a wrap and turn on one side, and a yarn over eyelet border on the other side. I used almost 800 yards total of Madelinetosh’s Tosh Merino Light yarn in fingering weight; 400 yards in the Natural shade, and 400 in the Ink Shade. Once blocked, my shawlette measures about 7 feet on its longest side and 31 inches at its deepest point. Written directions are included for the whole pattern, and a chart is provided for the lace section. This is a great stash busting project!
