Beginning with a cast-on of just four stitches, the shawl is worked lengthwise in garter stitch with a knitted-on edging that is worked as you go and the incorporates the increases that shape the shawl. After the increases are complete, the edging continues alongside a section of feather & fan, then turns the corner and is knit on along the short edge.
The pattern is both written and charted, and uses one skein of Old Maiden Aunt Shetland 2ply (or a similar “heavy” laceweight with 800 yards per 100 grams).
