The annual Indie Burgh Yarn Crawl is upon us! It’s time to visit our favourite 3 indie yarn shops in Edinburgh, Scotland. For the 3rd year in a row, I was asked to design a pair of socks to celebrate the occasion.

The inspiration this year is the Heart of Midlothian, a heart shaped mosaic in the sidewalk near St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

The design for this sock is a lace & textured pattern that is inspired by the Heart of Midlothian.

Grab your yarn and your needles and let’s go yarn crawling! Happy Knitting!

These socks are knit using the magic loop method (although the purchaser could easily adapt it for two circulars or double points).

This pattern includes toe-up instructions.

Judy’s Magic Cast On and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off are used in this pattern.

The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, ktbl, k2tog, M1R, M1L, W+T, slipping stitches, & passing slipped stitches over. Instructions for all these techniques are included in the pattern. In addition, a video tutorial for the shadow wrap technique of W+T for short rows has been recorded by the designer.

This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart forms for 56 stitch, 64 stitch, and 72 stitch socks.

Huge thanks to my amazing test knitters: Amanda (littlepanda518), Andrea (angeiship), Ann (roocmc), Ashleah (a1dawen), Cristy (cristyray), Kim (Napiersknits), & Susan (clucks). ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
