This is the ultimate piece in the “Inside Out Aran” collection which is part of the “Mostly Classic Cables” book. Why inside out? The design looks like a normal, classic Aran and it is, but we work it from the purl side, creating knit stitches as needed. Doing this makes it easier to see what is going on and to keep track of the cables. As machine knitting goes, this is a time consuming project. Don’t rush. Do the dishcloth, scarf, phone bag, pillow and cowl that lead up to this one and you will be ready. Relax and remember that it would take much longer by hand. Adjust the height of your chair relative to the machine so that the hand manipulation is comfortable. Doing so will help you avoid a literal pain in the neck. No ribber is required. Although one could be used to create some of the effects, the instructions focus on single bed knitting. This pattern is for bulky machines only.
