This pattern is designed by Liane Schwarz for Knit-O-Matic, but for computer reasons it is listed under the editor, Haley Waxberg.

This is a simple, easy to knit neck-down cardigan/jacket, with V-line front panels and 1/2 sleeves. There is no seaming because the arms are knit in the round and the body is worked in 1 piece with raglan decreases. It will also work up fast because it is knit with bulky yarn.

Q: I have read the Araucania cotton doesn’t wear very well after washing. What’s your opinion?

A: i think that any kind of chunky, single ply yarn is going to be fussy (the old pleasure vs functionality conundrum). the softer a yarn is the more prone it is to pilling. single plies are more susceptible than multi-plies. i think the ideal cleaning would be with steam, but most of us don’t have steamers.

i suggest hand wash the Araucania gently with Eucalan (or Soak). squeeze the excess water out gently by hand. roll the sweater in a big towel to remove all the rest of the water. lay flat to dry, block it while you are lying it out.

basically, be gentle and don’t pull at it!
