After the cable crosses, the cable stitches separate into strands that flow out and back in again for the next cable crossing. Arranged in an interlocking series, the pattern resembles a graceful fleet of hot air balloons. Shirley Paden has made the scarf in a classic came-colored yarn, a soft blend of Merino, alpaca, and silk. Try it in a bright mohair or shiny rayon for a very different effect.”
