Interwound Hat is a quick project, featuring simple cable design that gives it texture and volume.
The pattern provides instructions for making two versions - with simple ribbed brim (Version A) and with double folded ribbed brim (Version B) for added warmth.

YARN
Bulky weight wool yarn, approximately:

  • 150 yards (140 m) for Version A
  • 185 yards (170 m) for Version B (double folded brim)

SUGGESTED YARN
Wool of the Andes Bulky (100% wool; 137 yards (125 m) / 100 g)

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS

  • Size US 9 (5.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular needles
  • Size US 11 (8.0 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Size US 11 (8.0 mm) set of double pointed needles (DPNs)
  • (optional) Size US 11 (8.0 mm) 32” (80 cm) or 40” (100 cm) circular needles, if you prefer using the magic loop method for finishing the hat
  • Cable needle
  • Blunt tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker
  • (optional) Fur/faux fur pom pom

GAUGE
13 stitches and 18 rows = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch on larger needles, relaxed after blocking

FINISHED DIMENSIONS
18” (46 cm) circumference (to comfortably fit average adult head sizes 20-22” (51-56 cm)); 9 1/2” (24 cm) length, with brim folded up (for Version B only)
