These warm, wooly mittens are a nod to 1970s Canadiana. The colors, rendered in lofty Knit Picks Merino Style, are updated for 2010, but the coat-button cuffs and afghan stripes come straight from my childhood in Northern BC. I named them “Inuvik” on the advice of a friend who found their lines reminiscent of bold, high-contrast Inuit art.

Crocheters from outside the US and Canada can buy the pattern from http://www.etsy.com/shop/JuniorDeluxe
