Introduction to the Pattern…
Just like it’s elder sister, “The Gathering Shawl”, the “Inverness ,1946 Shawl” is inspired by the style put forth in Diane Gabaldon’s Outlander and the Starz televised adaptation. “The Gathering Shawl” is meant to channel the rugged life of 18th century Scotland, where the finer things in life must still be practical, the “Inverness” shawl is meant to contrast that lifestyle with the happy luxury of Claire’s second honeymoon in the 1940s. This shawl was designed to give warmth around the neck, but flare out into a simple, yet elegant lacey drape. A picot edging add an extra sweet little detail, making this feminine and versatile shawl all the more charming. As always, happy knitting!
