Cable patterns are great for keeping your neck warm in Scottish weather! They create a thick, dense fabric to protect you from the cold, and make your neck feel warm and cosy.
The cable patterns of this cowl are inspired by traditional Scottish knitting, and by the patterns carved on stone crosses and cross slabs in Iona and all over Scotland.

The bottom band is worked sideways, then the body is knitted bottom up, and at the end, the top band is knitted sideways again.

Please note that the pattern is charted only.

How about making an Iona Hat and a pair of Iona Mittens to match your cowl?

With lots of thanks to my wonderful test knitters!
