The cover is knitted circularly on two size 6(4mm) circular needles. You will also need a crochet hook for the back opening, and a blunt large eyed sewing up needle to finish.

You need about 100yards each of two contrasting colors of yarn. I have found that black and a bright color are the most effective.

Smooth yarns are best to show up the hidden motif but other than that any texture - shiny, or matte can be used.

The cover is made in one piece starting with a provisional cast on that is picked up on the next round to form the base, and ending with the top which is grafted together for a seamless finish. The opening is a giant one row buttonhole that is worked in on the way.
