The Irishtown Blanket features endless cables, creating an intriguing fabric. The pattern is repetitive so it knits up steadily. The finishing happens while you knit—no need to pick up stitches or knit separate bands to sew on. The blanket is a wedding gift for my niece. On the day I started to design it, she and her fiancé announced that they had sold their house and would start building their new home in Irishtown, NB. As well, my mom recently passed away, but before she did, she found out through DNA testing that she was 67% Irish. She always celebrated her Irish heritage but was so proud to have her genetic makeup confirmed. I had lots of inspiration for naming and creating this warm and squishy blanket!
