My Norwegian Grandmother was born in 1889, and named Isabel Johnson. She emigrated from the Fjords of Norway to Minnesota when she was just 13. She married my Grandfather Alfred Skogen, and they moved to Montana.

I look back at her so fondly, since she taught me how to knit when I was just a wee one! So I named this beautiful little cowl Isabel in her honor.

I designed this cowl especially for hand dyed yarn. The twists and columns bring out the best in the yarn and reduce most pooling. I wanted to use as much of the 220 yards as possible so as not waste the yarn. Because of this, keep a close watch at the end of the cowl.

Even though a hand dyed yarn brings out the best in the Twilled Stripe Pattern, your favorite worsted weight yarn will work great.

You can also make the cowl smaller in diameter by reducing the number of columns.
