Calling all island girls! This is the perfect little cover up to wear over your most romantic summer dresses, and it looks especially beautiful over an empire waist with full skirt. The model was worked in a wool/silk blend (from the designer’s stash!), however an organic cotton yarn substitutes beautifully. Mix it up with natural shell buttons (or a natural metal such as pewter), and make it your own. The pattern is interesting but quick to learn, and the shaping is super-simple. You will need to work one row of single crochet to join the shoulders together across the back neckline. Size 9 needles and lofty worsted-weight yarn insure that you will be wearing it in no time. For early fall, you may want to consider Malabrigo Merino Worsted, or a similar weight wool/silk blend yarn. (Island Girl was modeled here by my lovely niece, Samantha :)
