This cosy hat is a great introduction to knitting on double-pointed needles as the needles aren’t too small and the pattern is mainly plain knitting with the occasional purl round. Creating the fun swirly pattern on the top is much easier than it looks and is done using just straightforward decreases. With its simple shape there is lots of scope for playing with colour, so you could go for a classic solid or semi-solid shade, or be bold and go for a hand-painted or rainbow dyed look.

Will knit with most DK weight yarns.
