I made this sweater for my big guy because you could buy sweaters but they didn’t fit properly.
There were no knitting patterns out at the time to fit our big babies.
I will be adding at the end of each section the way I made the sweater. I have been told it is too
much and others wanted the extra information. Making the best fitting sweater for your fur baby is what I am working for.
Chest Sizes: 21-23(24-26)“
This sweater was designed to fit a medium sized dog but is easily adapted to fit all pets.
Materials: Worsted weight yarn (all fibers will work for this sweater just be sure to hand wash if you use wool or animal fiber). Estimated yardage 200-350 yards (170-250 grams). I always purchase more yarn due to individual knitting styles.
Circular needles in 16” size US 2 (2.75 mm) and 24” to 32” size US 3 (3.25 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm) for the body. Four dp needles for legs in size US 5 (3.75 mm). Stitch markers, scrap yarn, tapestry needle
for working in ends. Note: you will not need the size US 3 (3.25mm) needles if you are not making the sweater with a decreasing taper for the smaller belly. Gauge:Using the largest needles stst should be 20 sts x 28 rows = 4 x 4”(10x10cm). Adjust needle as needed to get gauge.
