Boston gets cold in the winter, but most days it’s not impossibly (or “ass-bitey”) cold, and when you’re commuting on the train every day and need your fingers free to knit, show your train pass, and change your glasses, taking mittens or gloves on and off is just a pain. I created this simple recipe for myself, and then knit a pair for my husband’s cousin with the same yarn and a larger pair for my friend with bulkier yarn. The pattern was made one size, for my medium-sized woman’s hands (about 7” around the knuckles), but you could use a thicker yarn to make a slightly bigger pair. These knit up fairly quickly, so you won’t be too sad if you lose one on the train. The machine washable yarn makes them pretty practical as a daily part of your wardrobe. Please let me know what you think!
