To make this you need:

• A pair of 12 mm safety eyes
• Four 30 cm pipe cleaners in black (or eight pieces of 15 cm)

Gauge is not super important for this, the main thing is to choose a suitable hook size and yarn thickness. The fabric should be firm enough that the stuffing doesn’t show through the stitches.

My finished spider is 14 cm long and has a leg span of 22 cm.
