I knitted these as a replacement for my husband’s old mitts from J.Crew. I tightened the cuff a bit and included some shaping for the thumb. I’ve only knitted this once but wanted to provide the pattern for any who might be interested. Please let me know if you run into any errata.

This fits large man hands.

Size 1 needle is only used during the bind-off to make it looser.

Other materials needed:

  • Waste yarn
  • Stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle

Errata:

Present in version 1, 2, 3 of the pdf:

For the right mitt, the line that says “Create thumb hole: Knit first 14 stitches of the round. Place those 4 stitches plus last 4 stitches of the previous round on waste yarn (18 total stitches on waste yarn).” should read “Create thumb hole: Knit first 14 stitches of the round. Place those 14 stitches plus last 4 stitches of the previous round on waste yarn(18 total stitches on waste yarn).”

Present in version 2 of the pdf (“J.Crew Style Mitts 2.pdf”): For making the thumb, the pattern says there will be 26 stitches per round. It should be 28.
