Christmas stockings are a fun project, especially since they don’t have to fit anyone, and you only have to make one of them!

This stocking looks good as is, but you can also add embroidered accents if you want to. Instructions for embroidery are not included, however.

Knit to gauge, the finished stocking is about 21” tall and 12.5” around. Actual gauge is not crucial, but you want a fairly firm fabric.

I knitted two versions with various worsted-weight wool yarns; you can do the same, use any similar worsted-weight wools you have in stash, such as Paton’s Classic, Cascade 220, or Knit Picks WOTA worsted.
Version 1 (sage green and burgundy)used about 90-125 yards each of green and white, and 50-60 yards of burgundy, plus smaller amounts of red for the embroidery.
Version 2 (red and green) used 90-125 yards each of green and red, and 70-100 yards of white.
