January 8 would have been Elvis Presley’s 88th birthday! I am glad to celebrate his legacy with this new design

Last year, my husband and I realized an old dream when we visited Graceland! One item of clothing spotted on a giant poster caught my eye: a magnificent sweater from his personal wardrobe that he’d bought at Lansky Bros and worn in the film Jailhouse Rock! So I wrote the pattern for his fans who might want to knit a souvenir of the king like me!

NOTES: To stay true to the version worn by Elvis in the movie Jailhouse Rock, and also because the stitch pattern is very stretchy, this model has been designed to be worn with very little ease (0 to 1 in.). For more ease, choose the size accordingly.
This pattern is knitted flat and back and forth from bottom to top. Each piece is worked separately, and a seam is required to join each piece at the end. When using hand-dyed yarn, we suggest alternating skeins to even out the color effect, knitting 2 rows with one skein, 2 rows with the second skein, and so on.
To work the body, you will need the JAILHOUSE ROCK stitch pattern, which is available as a chart and as a written version at the end of the pattern. Remember to read the pattern from right to left for right-side rows and from left to right for wrong-side rows.
