Inspired by the clean lines and graphic style of Art Deco design, the Jazz Age Mittens come in two sizes with separate charts for each size. Worked in Sunday Knits 3-ply light sport weight yarn, these mittens can be made with two 50g skeins, or add a 20g skein or two for a contrasting cuff. The small mittens are shown in Nirvana in Rain and Angelic in Black; the large are in Eden in Iris (cuff) and Lake (hand), and Nirvana in Wren.

Mittens are worked from the cuff up, with a side thumb gusset. Pattern is charted only, and includes instructions for adjusting the length of the hand and the thumb.

You will need:

  • For 2-colour mittens: 120 yds/110 m (175 yds/160 m) MC; 130 yds/119 m (160 yds/146 m) CC

  • For 3-colour mittens: 30 yds/28 m (45 yds/41 m) MC1 (cuff); 90 yds/82 m (130 yds/119 m) MC2 (hand); 130 yds/119 m (160 yds/146 m) CC

  • US2/2.75mm needles or size needed to get gauge, in your preferred needle type for working small circumference in the round

  • 3 stitch markers (EOR and each side of thumb gusset)

  • scrap yarn to hold thumb sts

  • yarn/tapestry needle to weave in ends
