ABOUT THE PATTERN
Cozy, squishy, and an addicting knit, the In a Mood Shawl is the perfect fall or winter shawl for when you want a bit of squish and color around wrapped around your neck. The design features two textures (garter and a simple mesh lace) that dance back and forth through the shawl as you change colors and play with shaping.

This pattern is for a kite-shape shawl worked starting at the tip. Learn more about the design inspiration, knitting experience, and wearing experience here.

The pattern includes one PDF with both the written instructions and the charted instructions, but the instructions are split so you can print only the pages you’ll need.

254 yds / 232 m; 110 g DK Weight Yarn for Color 1
116 yds / 107 m; 50 g DK Weight Yarn for Color 2
111 yds / 102 m; 48 g DK Weight Yarn for Color 3
254 yds / 232 m; 110 g DK Weight Yarn for Color 4

If you’d like, you could use the same color for Color 2 and Color 3.

The sample is worked using Angel Eyes (Color 1), Autumn in New York (Color 2), Happy Talk (Color 3), and April in Paris (Color 4) in Tippy Tree Yarns Super DK 4 Ply (100% Superwash Merino; 231 yd / 211 m; 100 g) base.

GAUGE
16 sts, 22 rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch
24 sts, 18 rows = 4” / 10 cm in eyelets

TOOLS
5.5 mm (US size 9) - or size needed to obtain gauge - circular needles, 32” (80 cm) minimum length
Darning needle
3 Removable stitch markers

TECHNIQUES
The techniques used in this pattern include knitting stitches together, KFB, SK2P, and yarn overs. This is a great project for an adventurous beginner who is interested in learning simple lace.
