Jewel is a soft crescent shaped shawl that uses a long colour change yarn to adorn the shawl with jewels of colour.
A rhythmical knit, suitable for adventurous beginners, intermediates and experts alike.

Size:
Gauge is not important
The finished blocked size is 84”wide and 14” deep

Yarn required:
Main colour (MC): 1 x 50g/210m solid colour sock weight yarn. I used Lang Yarns Jawoll, colour 03 (dark grey)
Contrast colour 1 (CC1): 1 x 50g/210m colour changing sock weight yarn with long colour sections. I used Lang Yarns Mille Colori Baby, colour 54 (pastels)…
Contrast colour 2 (CC2): 1 x 50g /210m solid colour sock weight yarn. I used Lang Yarns Jawoll colour 23 (light grey).

When choosing your colours it is VERY important to have a good contrast between ALL of the colours that will be knitted. This is easy if you pick separate colours for the aster rows, but if you use a long colour change yarn then make sure that all of the colours in the yarn contrast well with the the background colours.

4mm (US6) circular needle 32”
Needle to darn in ends

Skills required:
You must be able to knit, purl and Yarn over. There are written instructions for the aster st.
