It’s time to shake those holiday bells and booties! These look complicated, but don’t worry – you’re only knitting with one colour at a time, each bootie is knit in one piece, the bells are attached as you go, and there is minimal seaming and finishing required. You have the option to knit the entire bootie flat, or you can knit the cuff in the round and minimize seaming even more!

I’ve fixed an issue with the option to knit the cuff in the round as well as a couple of minor errata. Please make sure you are knitting from v2 of the pattern.

Sizing:
Extra Small Small - Fingering weight yarn
0-3 months 3-6 months
Finished sole length approx.: 3-3.25” 3.5-4”
Medium Large - Sport weight yarn
6-9 months 9-12 months
Finished sole length approx.: 4.25-4.75” 5-5.25”

Techniques/skills needed:

  • Simple increasing and decreasing
  • Picking up stitches
  • Making a knitted tube by folding the last row of the top of the cuff over and knitting the stitches at the base of that section together with the live stitches on the needle
  • Optional: Knitting in the round using magic loop or dpns
  • Optional: Knitted bobbles instead of bells

Yarn needed:

  • Fingering weight yarn: approx. 10g 15g each C1 and C2 for stripes & approx. 5g 8g each C3 and C4 for rolled top of cuff and triangle points.
  • Sport weight yarn: approx. 15g 20g each C1 and C2 for stripes & approx. 8g 10g each C3 and C4 for rolled top of cuff and triangle points.
  • Optional metallic crochet thread: approx. 5g 8g C5 for bobbles
