Inspired by the vintage styles of the 1950s, Joan is an unusual and eyecatching funnel hat, worked in bands of reverse stockinette and ruched at the front by picking up stitches from previous rows, keeping it perky. Best worked in a soft fluffy yarn , the hat can be trimmed in a number of ways, or left untrimmed (but certainly not plain!)

Suitable for more confident knitters, you will need to be familiar with picking up and knitting stitches from previous rows.

Materials:
70-100m sport/dk yarn
needle to obtain gauge
(model used 2 balls Gosyo Aerie and size US 6 needle)

Gauge:
16 sts/22rows per 10cm to fit medium-large adult head.

As the hat is worn on the back of the head, gauge does not have to be absolutely precise.
