any super bulky weight yarn, for your reference I used Madelinetosh A.S.A.P. in Tern (100% superwash merino wool), 90 yds - 82 m and Drops Andes in light beige (65% wool, 35% alpaca), 3.5 oz /105 yds, (100g / 96 m), 2 (2) skeins or approx:
77 (82yds) / 70 (75)m, or 140 (147)yds / 128 (135)m for hat with pom pom

Needles
size US 11 / 8mm and US 13 / 9mm at least 16”/ 40cm circulars
or longer circulars for magic loop or DPNs, or size to obtain correct gauge

Gauge
10 sts x 16 rows = 4”(10cm) in St st on US 13 / 9mm needles.
Select a yarn that has a recommended gauge of 9-11 sts / 4”
(10 cm) and drapes well after blocking.
