Inspiration

Johannesburg is my home city. Although I have lived all over the world and no longer call Johannesburg my home, the city’s skyline always tugs at my heartstrings. The skyscrapers and towers rising high on the horizon frame a busy and vibrant city. These socks have been designed to capture the mixture of strong lines and richly textured detail found in the city I hold a special place in my heart for – Jozi.

Description

A striking top down sock with a heel flap and rounded heel turn. Columns of twisted rib frame the slipped stitch panels. A patterned toe finished the look. Available in six sizes (baby to adult large)

2.5mm / US 1.5 needle suitable for working in the round

Hartlam Calvinia (4-ply/fingering weight yarn; 80% Merino / 20% nylon; 366 m / 400 yds per 100g skein)
Shade: Foundry; 1 x 100g skein
30g – 100g required dependent on size chosen

Notions
Two stitch markers (I find lockable stitch markers work best)
Tapestry needle

When fitting socks you typically want about 2.5cm / 1” of negative ease for adult socks. When knitting for babies and younger children I would recommend knitting the sock with less negative ease as they grow so quickly.
