Juno
The arrival of a new little family member is so exciting! I don’t know why pastels and neutrals are the go-to choices for baby items these days - I much prefer bright colours and bold prints. Mosaic knitting to the rescue!
Juno, the Roman goddess of childbirth and queen of the heavens, is also a fierce warrior full of energy and youthfulness. Who better to watch over your special little human? Protecting, inspiring and energising; the Juno blanket will remain a comfort for bub for years to come.
Knit up in cotton to ensure washability and practicality for the new parent(s), this small blanket will be the go-to choice for the pram, the carseat, and maybe even just playing on the floor. Choose bright, contrasting colours to really make the mosaic colourwork pop!
Materials/notions required:
Yarn: 6 balls 4 Seasons ‘Flinders’ cotton 8 ply (50g/115m each) - 3 balls each of complimentary and contrasting colours. Sample used colours 80367086 (orange - MC) and 80367078 (blue - CC)
Needles: 4mm (US 6) circular or straight needles of any length (stitches might be quite squished on 30cm straights but should just fit)
Notions: stitch holders or scrap yarn
Gauge:
23 sts and 48 rows over 10cm in mosaic stitch pattern.
To knit a gauge swatch in pattern: Using MC, cast on 31 sts then knit Rows 1-16 of the mosaic panel section four times. Completed swatch will be larger than 10cm; you should count the individual stitches and rows.
Gauge is not essential for this project but yarn requirements might vary if your blanket is significantly larger or smaller than sample.
Measurements:
Approx 54.5cm wide x 49cm tall
