The shawl is knit from neck down to the bottom hem. It is shaped by yarn-over increases along the front edges and along two narrow vertical bands of a floral lace pattern, which run across the shoulders and down the arms to the hem. All lace patterns are presented in chart format, and include instructions for optional bead placement.

If choosing to substitute yarns, pick a fingering weight yarn with a lot of drape and without a halo to best show off the lace motifs. If you choose to include the beads, you will need approximately 250 size 6 beads and a size 14 crochet hook to place the beads.

Inspired by author Sheri Holman’s book The Dress Lodger, this shawl features floral motifs accented with small pearl beads. Smaller motifs form the main body of the shawl, while larger 19th-century inspired blossoms trim the hem and side panels.
