Acer Palmatum “Kamagata” is one of my favourite Japanese maples. The spring and summer foliage is light green with red edges. The fall colour is reliable and bright orange red. The fall foliage is the inspiration for this sock design.

The socks are worked in the round from the top down. Instructions are given for working the socks on 4 or 5 double pointed needles. However, the pattern can easily be adapted for knitting on 2 circular needles, or on 1 circular needle, using magic loop.

Beads are optional.

Both charts as well as written instructions are included.

The toes can be finished with either a 3 needle bindoff or Kitchener stitch.
