This scarf features the ever popular puff stitch, but gives you control of how the scarf turns out!

The Karen scarf as shown uses a super bulky weight yarn and a 9.0mm hook. There are written instructions for this size in a short cowl length, and long infinity scarf length.

This pattern also has instructions on how to adapt the scarf specifically for worsted weight yarn and a 5.0mm hook.
Sizing for this weight of yarn includes: 24” short cowl, 40” medium scarf, and 62” long scarf, with instructions on how to make the scarf longer or shorter according to your desire.

But wait! There’s more!

This pattern also has a formula to calculate the proper sized scarf out of any weight yarn, using any size hook! The sky is the limit! You don’t have to have the correct yarn on hand for this pattern - it could even be a stash buster!

  • This pattern has been tested

  • Testers making the worsted weight sizes found that not all #4 yarns achieve gauge as specified, and that when using #4 yarns, swatching is extremely helpful to find your gauge.

  • Yarns used for testing include: Red Heart Grande, Lion Brand Homespun, Red Heart Super Saver, Caron Simply Soft, Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, and Lion Brand Wool Ease Worsted
