I like the look of 3rd loop crochet, but haven’t found a hat pattern I like to use it! Usually the bands are too loose, the joins aren’t invisible, and overall it doesn’t fit how I want it to.

This hat features:

  • Edging for a controlled stretch in the band
  • A tutorial for an invisible 3rd loop join
  • A bottom up construction for adjustable sizing from the start
  • Options for an ear warmer instead of a hat
  • Options to make a slouchier hat
  • Options to make a larger or smaller hat
  • Instructions to make a straight Hdc seam instead of a diagonal one

With the recommended yarn, you should be able to make either size hat from just one skein of yarn!

This pattern has been thoroughly tested and proofread to ensure clarity and freedom from mistakes.

This pattern currently only comes in adult sizing, but if there is enough demand I will work up children’s sizing to add to this pattern.
