Inspired by Katherina Minola of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, this shawl consists of two color garter stitch stripes and is edged with ruffles. A study in contrasts, this shawl mimics the journey Kate takes throughout the play. The shawl begins with sharp stripes and progresses into the feminine ruffled edge.

Katherina is uniquely suited to both long colorways as well as highly variegated yarns. A solid background color will highlight long colorways and break-up variegated colors.

Yarn Requirements: Fingering Weight Yarn – 440 yards Main Color / 220 yards Contrast Color

Customizable Shawl Size: The pattern is written for 27 stripes of contrast color. The shawl can be customized by adding or subtracting stripes prior to knitting the ruffled edge. The ruffled edge and bind off will use approximately 50% of main color of yarn.
