This “Twin Set” cardigan/top pattern is very versatile and provides instructions for a cardigan with bell sleeves or with 3/4 sleeves; the sleeveless top underneath can be made with ties or a keyhole closure.

Additional Gauge for Top:
20 sts and 26 rows = 4” with size 8 needles in stocking st.

Ed. notes:

When knitting sleeveless top (shoulder shaping) be careful to make shoulder strips long enough so that armholes and head opening are big enough…pattern leaves very little room.

Instead of seaming shoulders on both pieces, try knitting with a THIRD needle to join the stitches that are on the other needles.

When knitting cardigan (Bell Sleeves), make upper arm and elbow area as fitted as possible (measure on your arm) so that seaming won’t be bulky.

Button holes need to be small and snug (knit tightly)
