Katsura is a pattern that was designed to feature gradient yarns, showing off the color-changing yarn with linear braided cables and English mesh lace. This pattern doesn’t have a recommended maximum yardage as it can continue on until there is little yarn remaining, making it great for handspun yarn. It can also be used with any weight of yarn, as long as needle size is adjusted appropriately. The name is derived from the tree my husband and I planted in our backyard to mark our first year in our lovely new home. The sample shown was made with 700-800 yards of fingering weight handspun shetland.
