Keefely Mittens

Keefely Mittens
(description from book)
"For JoLene Treace, Christmas conjures up memories of her Norwegian grandmother and the wonderful cookies she made. Called keefelys, they were crescent-shaped, with a thin, pastrylike outer layer, a filling of ground walnuts inside, and a sprinkling of powdered sugar on top. JoLene designed these mittens in honor of her grandmother and hose unforgettable cookies. In addition to the stranded patterning common to Norwegian knitwear designs, these mittens fittingly incorporate a Turkish stitch pattern known as "walnut meats" in the cuff."
