Use your yarn scraps to make this sweet bag to hold a sachet or other treasure. Photo tutorials for the embellishments are included.

I first found the little lavender sachets on amazon.com to keep my yarn and knits fresh and bug free. And then I started keeping a supply of them to brighten the random day here and there. My kids even began hanging them around their rooms when it seemed too stuffy inside. But the purple bag they came in always seemed so impersonal. So I got out my stash of little bits of fingering and sport weight yarn and set to work making a more special keepsake bag. And now I want to share it with you! It’s a simple knitted rectangle with loving embellishment; the perfect size to hold a small lavender sachet.

About my project

Welcome to my oddments project number two! (See the first one here.)

This has been a tough few years for many. Me too. And one thing that’s gotten me through is giving people I care about small gifts. Let’s face it: big projects are beyond what many of us want to do right now. But small bits of knitted love are so manageable, and they’re so satisfying when finished and gifted. And even moreso when they’re made from oddments.

And I wanted to share that lovely feeling with you, because we all have those stray bits and pieces of yarn here and there. They’re different weights and different colors. Some are a full skein. Some are just leftover tidbits, but you can’t throw them away! Definitely not a sweater’s worth of any one color or yarn, let alone a shawl’s worth or even a full pair of socks or mitts. You can’t imagine what to do with them, but you don’t want to part with them. Well. This is the book for you! 15 patterns to turn your scraps into loving bits of kindness that will brighten your friends’ and loved ones’ day.

All patterns have charts (if needed) and written instructions, and you can make them out of oddments. These are small projects, not big ones: the perfect size for a cozy evening or two of stitching.
