Is it a cowl? Is it a scarf? Well, yes, it’s both!
This was one of those “flash of inspiration” designs that came from nowhere. I love convertible items of clothing that can have more that one use, so a scarf that is also a cowl is just my kind of thing!
Perfect for solid, variegated, or anything-in-between yarns, but chose something that can be blocked so you can best show off that lovely lace pattern.

This scarf begins with a single stitch and increases along one edge, incorporating a mesh lace pattern, to create a wedge shape. It is then worked without shaping, while the mesh lace is gradually phased out to give way to garter stitch. It’s then decreased along one side to leave a single stitch to fasten off. Buttons are then sewn along this edge to allow the piece to be worn as a scarf or cowl.
