Use whatever gauge with whatever number of stitches you want to get your desired width and stitch density, hence needle size is purely a suggestion.

I wanted to make a scarf for myself with this yarn, but thought I couldn’t carry off a pure lace scarf. I think I found a good balance by adding some lace to garter stitch.
