If you’ve never tried slipped stitch color work, this could be the place to start. It’s amazing how easy it is to create beautiful texture and color work with just three colors and two slipped stitch patterns! The patterns form a checked design when stacked, and the colors vary the patterns enough to create a very interesting and flattering cold weather accessory.

You will need 130 yds. of Color A and 80 yds. each of Colors B and C.
I used LB Collection Angora Merino in Pewter (A), Smoked Pearl (B), and Blue Bonnet (C), but almost any DK yarn would work. Choose low contrast colors, as I did, or go high contrast for a completely different look.

A note about your gauge swatch: Work at least a 5” x 5” swatch on larger needles. Use Color C to ensure adequate yarn to finish the cowl. Yardage given accounts for amount needed to swatch with Color C.
