The Keys Tie Skirt is a quick-to-crochet swim cover-up featuring a simple construction and basic shell stitch variations.

The open diamond lace stitch pattern provides eye-catching, minimal coverage for your beach strolls.

The waistband and ties are crocheted first. The yarn is then re-joined to work the skirt’s lace panel.

A base skirt length is given, but you can work the lace panel to any length you’d like (keeping in mind yardage requirements will change).

Sizes available: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (see below). Pictured here are sizes 2 (worn) and 1 (worked to a shorter length; last photo).

This pattern uses U.S. crochet terminology.

Skill level: Easy.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

Finished Skirt Measurements (after blocking): 24 (29, 34, 38 ½, 43 ½, 48, 53)” waistband (not including ties, which add an additional 12” at either end); 27 ½ (32 ½, 38, 43, 48 ½, 53 ½, 59)” skirt lace panel width; 15 ½” total skirt length as written but fully adjustable.
The waistband and ties are worked firmly but will stretch once worn / tied.

Yarn: Omega Yarn Sinfonia light- / sport-weight yarn (100% cotton); 218 yd 200 m / 100 g per ball, 2 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4) balls (shown in color 815 — Jacaranda). NOTE ~ The yardage shown on the Ravelry yarn page for this yarn is different (232 yds); the number of balls required listed here is based on 219-yd balls, as shown on the ball bands of yarn used for the sample).

Hook: Sizes F (3.75 mm) and G (4 mm) or sizes needed to comfortably obtain gauge.

Notions: Yarn needle.

Gauge (blocked): With smaller (F) hook, 20 sc = 4”. With larger (G) hook, 2 diamond pattern reps and 7 rows in shell pattern = 3 ½”.
