Khamseen is the Arabic word for 50, and is also the name for dry, hot, sand-filled windstorms that blow in Egypt over a 50 day period in the spring. This large, semi-circular shawl uses the number 50 in more than one way. There are 50 stripes and even the border has 50 repeats of the pattern. You will knit this for far fewer than 50 days, and be able to wear it for far more than that amount of time.
