The lace pattern in this hat features working purl stitches on the right side of the work. I think these purl stitches add an interesting texture that look a little like a bobble when knit in this super bulky yarn. I love that you can get the look of a bobble without actually having to knit one!

Yarn used for hat shown: 2 skeins of Hometown USA Tweeds from Lion Brand Yarns (100% acrylic; 113 g, 64 yards), in color Lake Tahoe Blue

Materials

  • 100 (120) yards of super bulky yarn
  • US Size 9 (5.5 mm) circular needle, 16” cable, or size required for gauge
  • US Size 11 (8.0 mm) circular needle, 16” cable, or size required for gauge
  • Set of 5 double-pointed needles in US Size 11 (8.0mm) or size required for gauge
  • 1 stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle

Round 3 of chart ends with a yarn over. Take care not to drop it when starting the next round.

Want an extra slouchy hat? Add extra repeats of the chart before moving to the crown decreases. Each additional repeat will add about 1” to the length of your hat.
