When our house was built, in the 1840’s, these northern Illinois woods were still inhabited by peaceable native families - hunters and gatherers mainly, and if one (me!) is particularly lucky, their arrowheads may yet (just this past summer!) be found along the banks of our beautiful Kinnikinnick creek. This scarf is the first in a collection of three knitted accessories which celebrates our gentle and nature-loving predecessors …

Arrowheads form a lovely and reversible basketweave pattern in this gansey-style scarf with attractive angled ends and optional tassel trim.

Knit from end to end with a simple knit and purl stitch pattern. The tassel and crocheted trim is added later. A video tutorial of the trim may be viewed at sundayknits.com/techniques

Buy Kinnikinnick scarf as a pattern download or a kit, or preorder the collection and receive striped fingerless mitt and stranded beanie (sneak peak) patterns (both in 2 colors) as soon as they are available … between now and mid November … in plenty of time for holiday gifts.
