This poncho is a simple and elegant piece that is easy to knit. It is knit from top to bottom. I have included instructions for both knitting in the round, and knitting flat.

If you intend to knit in the round, I recommend an interchangeable needle set. BUT it is very doable without an interchangeable needle set as long as you have several circular needle lengths to change out in US 7 (or correct size to obtain gauge).

This pattern is so simple that to change the size, all you have to do is keep knitting until it is as long and as big as you want it. If you do want it bigger, PLEASE make sure you have closer to 1500-1700 yards to work with.
