This cute, slouchy tam was designed with the Cowgirl Cowl by Pam Powers in mind: my sisted wanted a hat that matched.

Worked from the bottom up with a lace brim followed by a slouchy stockinette body, the tam shows off handiwork and nice yarn all at once. It is topped off with a tassel for extra sass.

Pattern calls for a skein of Malabrigo Yarn Rios, but I was using leftovers from the cowl and used probably 3/4 of a skein. Any worsted weight yarn will do. To make the tam larger or smaller, add or subtract in sets of 10 and add or subtract 3 (NOT 2!) accordingly from the number of K stitches before K2TOG in hat decreases. This will obviously use more or less yarn than is called for.
